Summits on the Air

SOTA, or summits on the air, is a radio amateur activity that rewards (with internet points, no less!) amateur radio operation from mountainous areas.

The point of SOTA is to “activate” summits - that is, to make a minimum of 4 contacts while standing on top of it. The summit list is compiled based on the vertical separation from surrounding geography and has a corresponding score depending on how difficult it is to reach.
